SmartBenefits

Your SmartBenefits Contribution can now be electronically downloaded onto your WMATA registered SmarTrip card!

The SmartTrip card is a permanent plastic fare card that is used to ride Metrorail and Metrobus, as well as to pay for parking at Metro-operated parking lots.

We all have an interest in relieving traffic congestion and the resulting air pollution. Increasing the use of public transportation is one of the best ways to accomplish this. The University is offering this benefit because we believe it is important to support the increased use of public transportation and the resulting benefit to the environment.

CUA employees who participate in the SmartBenefits program can sign up to have up to $255.00 per month withheld for transit and $255.00 per month withheld for parking, pre-tax. An employee's payroll deduction for the SmartBenefits program cannot exceed the actual stated public transportation commuting cost. An employee can begin, change, or end participation at any time if commuting methods change.

If you are interested in participating in SmartBenefits, you must complete a Salary Reduction Authorization form and submit it to the Office of Human Resources. Forms received by the 10th of the month will be processed for the next month's deductions.

If you would like further information about the SmartBenefits program, visit the WMATA website. If you have questions please contact the Office of Human Resources by e-mail or by phone at (202) 319-5050.
